P2P World Accessibility & Inclusion Assessment

Effective Date: October 2025 Last Reviewed: [November 2025]

Our Commitment

P2P World is a neuro-affirming, inclusive, and heart-led community.
We believe accessibility isn’t just about physical spaces — it’s about emotional safety, clear communication, and creating environments where everyone can show up as themselves.
This Accessibility Assessment outlines how we design our online and in-person spaces to be welcoming for all neurotypes, abilities, and communication styles.

Our Approach to Accessibility

We take a proactive, strengths-based approach to accessibility, guided by:

  • The Social Model of Disability – removing barriers rather than “fixing” people.

  • Universal Design Principles – making participation easy and enjoyable for all.

  • Neuro-affirming Practice – recognising and celebrating neurodiversity as natural human variation.

Accessibility is not one-size-fits-all, so we invite feedback and collaboration to continuously improve our spaces.

Event Accessibility

Physical Spaces

  • We aim to host events in accessible venues with ramps, wide entrances, and accessible toilets.

  • Whenever possible, we choose venues that are quiet or low-stimulus, or offer chill zones for rest.

  • Seating is flexible — people may stand, sit, move, stim, or use mobility aids as needed.

  • We encourage BYO supports (noise-cancelling headphones, fidget tools, sensory comfort items).

Sensory Considerations

  • We provide clear information in advance (venue details, parking, noise levels, and lighting).

  • Music, lights, and scents are kept moderate or optional when possible.

Communication & Participation

  • Participants can opt in or out of introductions, photos, or group discussions.

  • Name tags are optional.

  • Written and visual supports (signs, agendas, colouring sheets, or “I need a break” cards) are available.

  • We provide plain-language explanations for activities and schedules.

  • Hosts are trained in neuro-affirming, trauma-informed communication.

Online Accessibility

  • All online events offer captioning or live transcript options when available.

  • We use easy-to-read fonts, high contrast, and minimal flashing visuals.

  • Participants may type, speak, or use chat features to engage in the way that suits them best.

  • Slides and materials are provided in advance when possible.

Website Accessibility

Our website aims to meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards and includes:

  • Clear navigation and large, easy-to-read text.

  • Alt text on all images.

  • Avoidance of bright flashing animations or autoplay sound.

We’re continually improving accessibility and welcome feedback to make our digital spaces even more inclusive.

Inclusive Practice & Language

  • At P2P World, we use whichever style the individual prefers.
We don’t assume — we ask.
If someone tells us they prefer “autistic person,” we use that.
If another prefers “person with autism,” we honour that too.

  • We embrace communication differences — info-dumping, scripting, stimming, and pauses are all okay.

  • We celebrate neurodivergent culture and lived experience as part of what makes our community strong.

How to Request Adjustments or Give Feedback

We encourage everyone to share what helps them feel comfortable and included.
If you have a support requirement, accessibility need, or suggestion, please reach out.
We’ll do our best to make adjustments with respect and confidentiality.

We believe true inclusion happens when kindness, curiosity, and communication guide every decision.
